Simplicity! Green tea cake/pastries

The  first time I made the green tea cake was with butter cream frosting, though I enjoyed the cake, butter cream frosting was totally out of place, it didn’t gel well with the cake (wrt my taste). After that series of time I tried with fresh cream, simpler but a killer combo! Few weeks before while I was in Netherlands along with a friend, we binged on most delicious sushi, chicken wings and finished it off with a scoop of green tea ice and black sesame seed ice. Black sesame seed ice cream was interesting not something I long or look forward to eat again….but green tea ice cream I always long for. Since making ice cream wasn’t in agenda, I had to opt for green tea cake. Made them as sheets and layered them as little pastries along with fresh whipped cream. Everyone at the work place enjoyed it Tada!. Though this recipe was not intended for the blog purpose (no fancy pictures), I have to record them here since cake was super light and spongy! Happy baking!

Laid back evenings – Orange cake

Laid back? not that I come home shrugging and crash on the couch and later do nothing but… This whole week am staying with Somjai, 8 months going to be mama, as her her husband is off for a conference. Having great time with her, I start from office “early” thinking that someone is waiting for me and we have plans to cook together and have dinner, loving it. Then we start to talk, which we did while working together, about work, colleagues in and around department, lots to update….you know :p Giggle, laugh and best is am completely away from laptop and internet, so my dear blog mates, shall get back to all your blog post this weekend :)

An email some motivation and tears of joy – Almond cake

It may sound familiar if I say “there are many  individual from childhood days I have lost contact “. Let me give you a short glimpse of my yesteryear’s. Say 10 to 15 yrs back during my school days. I was an introvert who had countable number of friends. I was overshadowed by not being a bright student of the class, don’t be surprised if I say, I was never good with my studies, since I hated competition (still do) and intelligence being constantly compared to marks got in exams. According to me intelligence is something a person achieves in any of his/her field of interest which finally gets noticed by people but never compared as each individual has their own originality.

Apricot White Chocolate Pulla

Am excited to express that Google has started to recognize my blog “happy dance”. I celebrated by doing some shopping (ofcourse, indeed) at an antique shop (to be honest it was more or less an old market). I managed to pick those cutie little stuffs :)
Have decided to introduce names of my friends or people I encounter in my day to day life instead of me saying, my “this” and “that” friend. As a bond between me and novel world has started to form through my blog. So why not?
Today’s recipe, yes the color says it all, it’s basically Easter bread. I relished this extra soft “moist” pulla at Marjut (my department’s office secretary,  very warm and friendly person) house during Easter. Fell in love with white chocolate apricot combination. Immediately got the recipe from her, but it took more than a year for me to bake. Soon you will see many white chocolate based desserts, yes lately am drifting towards white chocolates.
Pulla is basically a sweet/dessert bread/bun. There are many different varieties of pulla. One that anyone would drool on is cinnamon pulla. I do have the recipe, hopefully it doesn’t take another one year for me to bake :)
I binged on couple of slices soon after photo session, when it was still warm. It tastes great with milk. Tea and coffee can be other options. Hope you all will enjoy the wonderful combination of apricot and white chocolate, don’t forget to mix a pinch of love.

These are the one I picked from so called antique shop
